Mission
Formed in December, 2020,
the Mission of the Women’s Resource Collaborative is to offer avenues for healing for patients impacted by Dr. Javaid Perwaiz (whose medical practice was in Portsmouth, Virginia) through providing resources such as counseling, educational classes, support and support groups, and opportunities to connect with community and national resources that promote recovery, resilience, health and wellbeing.
Purpose
Crime and victimization can often leave an impact on those it touches - physically, mentally, emotionally and financially.
When a crime isn’t understood or recognized or fully addressed, that impact can be even more devastating, leaving people feeling isolated and alone.
The Women’s Resource Collaborative recognizes the pain felt by former patients of Dr. Javaid Perwaiz.
We know that those patients are often victims and survivors who have struggled to be heard and faced obstacles to healing and justice.
Sadly, in many cases some aspects of the harm caused by Dr. Perwaiz cannot be undone, but former patients do not have to suffer alone in silence.
The purpose of the Women’s Resource Collaborative is to offer a network of service providers in the community that understand the nature of the crimes and losses, the impact on the women who experienced them, and seek to help former patients find pathways to hope and resiliency.
Whether you were impacted severely, in small ways, or may not yet know how your experience with Dr. Perwaiz could be impacting you, the WRC offers opportunities to learn more about the ways crime and loss can affect you, the ability talk to an experienced counselor or therapist, and the chance to connect with other former patients that may offer you support and a sense of community.
Services are free or offered at a low cost, so that all who seek help can afford it.
